In comparison, on other sites like rentacoder.com or scriptlance.com the designer gets about 80-90%.

I've just tried getting a logo done trough 99designs.com but their pricing is high, only about 50% gets to the actual designer.

Also there is no way to spend just $39 as mentioned in this article (should be corrected as the info is misleading), the minimum you have to pay for a logo is actually $204.

Hello,

I'm a regular person with an account at Amazon for their S3 Simple Storage and 2 other related clouds. Let me tell you it was almost scary going from huge place to place not knowing half of what their lawyer-like terms mean. I haven't been back since.

Compared to most internet users, I have an extensive computer background but I don't. Not when compared to users like yourself and the rest of your readers. There are way more of us our here wondering what to do with S3.

Where the control panel that an 8 year old can figure out (LOL)..I did see something posing as one but it was complicated. The only easy to figure out thing was the sign up even though it requires separate registrations for each cloud in a certain. One cloud cannot come before some other clouds!

I see a brand new niche opportunity there unless I missed something. The best and quickest sign up for hosting and domain registration is at 000webhost.com It's totally free with no ads and it's neat to watch it set up your account right on front of you using only your email address. Nothing else, no credit, debit, paypal...just email address.

Let me know where to find a contol panel like that for S3 Clouds. Otherwise the rest of us are doomed to staying on the ground, looking up at the chosen ones!! Or, is that the Charmed ones??

P.S. Another discussion for you: BLENDERS What's up with all the software blending going on? Blending left with NO support is left separating before too long!!

Very interesting article! These services are turning some of the steps in the process of software development into commodities. Just like water or electricity.

usertesting.com seems like a good service to try for me! :)

Bob, great post!

In addition, I recommend a further reading on the subject - an interview I made with Mike Culver, one of the Amazon Web Services evangelists where he shares his thoughts about the software industry and the way we can all benefit from Amazon's expertise and infrastructure:
